DNC on Trump’s Convention Remarks

In response to Trump’s remarks at the RNC convention today, DNC War Room senior spokesperson and advisor Lily Adams released the following statement:

“Republicans promised that Trump would deliver an uplifting message to the American people, but what we just heard was more of the same. The same lies. The same incoherence. And the same incompetence. As Americans suffer through a health care crisis and economic recession fueled by Trump’s chaos, he hasn’t found a new tone, he’s doubled down.”

CNN’s Ryan Struyk: “President Trump last night: ‘I think we’re going to see something that is going to be very uplifting and positive.’

Trump just now: ‘In a very, very nice way, I will tell you, they are trying to steal the election.’”

Los Angeles Times’s Eli Stokols: “Laying out that optimistic vision his campaign aides had previewed, Trump says if Democrats get the next SCOTUS nominees, ‘Your American Dream will be dead.’”

CNN’s Daniel Dale: “In summary, Trump began the Republican convention by repeating a bunch of his favorite lies.”

CNN’s Jeff Zeleny: “A senior GOP strategist, who is not a ‘Never Trumper’ and often gives the president the benefit of the doubt, tells me: ‘If what we just heard is a preview of the President’s message for the week, he loses and we lose. We can kiss the Senate goodbye if the tone doesn’t change.’”
