DNC on U.S. Passing 8 Million COVID-19 Cases
October 16, 2020
DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement after the United States reached 8 million confirmed COVID-19 cases, more than any other country in the world:
“8 million have been infected. 8 million have fallen into poverty since May. Over 217,ooo have lost their lives and millions more are out of work. And in recent weeks, hospitalizations have surged. The only thing more staggering than these numbers is the incompetence that caused them. Donald Trump abandoned the American people when they needed strong leadership, refusing to provide the relief they deserve. The American people can’t afford four more years of Donald Trump; we can’t even afford 18 more days of this president. We must elect Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Democrats across the country to combat this pandemic, rebuild our economy, and restore the soul of our nation.”
