Today, Donald Trump descended on North Carolina in an attempt to rehabilitate his approval rating, which continues to hit all-time lows. It won’t work. His Big Ugly Bill and chaotic trade war have been a disaster for North Carolina. As families come together for the holidays, they’re struggling to afford the basics, from groceries to their utility bills.

Trump’s economic policies have been a total disaster for working families in North Carolina: 

• North Carolina families have already lost $486 this year due to Trump’s inflation, with the median family set to lose an additional $1,320 per year due to Trump’s Big Ugly Bill and chaotic tariffs.
  
• Trump’s Big Ugly Bill cuts SNAP benefits for 784,000 North Carolina families who rely on the program to put meals on the table.
  
• Trump’s Big Ugly Bill kicks over 450,000 North Carolina families off their health insurance and puts rural hospitals on the brink of closure.
• Because Trump also refuses to extend enhanced ACA tax credits, health care premiums will double for almost 900,000 North Carolina families next year.
  

In response, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement: 

“Trump is desperate. Earlier this week, he made a fool of himself delivering a delusional speech from the Oval Office, and he did the same thing today in North Carolina. North Carolinians are struggling, and they aren’t falling for Trump’s spin. Working families in North Carolina and across the country are fed up with having their food, health care, and hard-earned dollars ripped away from them so that Trump’s billionaire donors can attend Great Gatsby parties and enjoy massive tax handouts. While Trump keeps selling out North Carolina families and tanking the state’s economy, Democrats will keep fighting to lower costs and protect health care.”
