DNC Chair Ken Martin and DNC Associate Chair Shasti Conrad released the following statement marking AANHPI Heritage Month:

“During Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we celebrate the deeply rooted history and impactful AANHPI Americans who helped shape our country into what it is today. AANHPI Americans are the fastest-growing demographic in the country and are a central part of our Democratic coalition. 

“The AANHPI community has made ground-breaking contributions to the growth of this nation, and AANHPI Americans are a cornerstone of our society, yet Donald Trump continues to strip away the significant progress to advance equity and wants to roll back the hands of time.

“Now more than ever, as they are under attack by this Administration, it is vital that we ensure that all AANHPI Americans have every opportunity to succeed. That means safeguarding programs that protect the elderly, enhance pathways to the best education for children, and boost economic safety for working-class AANHPI Americans. We must stand up to any and all instances of Asian-hate and be conscious that we don’t allow history to repeat itself. So while Trump dismantles the protections for communities of color, Democrats are committed to fighting back against discrimination and holding him accountable.”
