DNC Spokesperson Adonna Biel released the following statement after the House vote to move forward with a bipartisan January 6 commission:

“Today’s vote put the chaos of the Republican Party on full display. Despite experiencing an insurrection firsthand, Kevin McCarthy and his fellow Trumpian puppets refuse to stand up to protect our democracy, and instead will do whatever it takes to protect a loser ex-president and members of their caucus from testifying about that day. As the bill heads to the Senate, Mitch McConnell has also made clear he’d rather pathetically surrender to Donald Trump than get to the bottom of what happened and make sure it never happens again. Americans deserve better. They deserve the truth.”
