DNC Statement on César Chávez Day
March 31, 2025
On César Chávez Day, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
“Today, we honor César Chávez, whose dedication and commitment to improving the lives of farmworkers and working people across the country inspire us in the ongoing fight for the rights of all people. Chavez dedicated his life to labor law reform, ensuring workers were treated with dignity and granted essential protections.
“This day is also a reminder of the fight ahead. Donald Trump has continued his crusade against labor and workers, from outlawing collective bargaining for more than a million federal workers to axing National Labor Relations Board members and Equal Employment Opportunity Commissioners. We must continue to resist these regressive policies, and Democrats will continue to honor Chavez’s legacy and fight for workers against these threats.
“We must remember the values César Chávez embodied and recommit ourselves to fighting for freedom, justice, and dignity for all. Our party is grounded in the values, principles, and aspirations of the working class. Democrats will continue César Chávez’s legacy by supporting workers across the nation while fighting against the Trump administration’s anti-union and anti-worker policies.”
