In response to Democrats saving the country from Trump’s government shutdown right before the holidays, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison released the following statement:

“Despite Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and MAGA Republicans taking the nation to the brink of a government shutdown that would have left millions of Americans stranded, Democrats stood up for working families, saving the country from Trump’s latest political stunt. MAGA Republicans tried to put programs working people and seniors rely on — like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid — on the chopping block and pave the way for massive tax cuts for billionaires, but because of Democrats, the American people won. The fight isn’t over: Trump is already showing us that he’s not working at the service of working families, he’s in it for himself.”
