DNC Statement on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization

Today, the Supreme Court will hear arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case pertaining to Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban that is widely considered a direct challenge to the protections of Roe v. Wade. In response, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison issued the following statement:

“The majority of the country agrees that abortion is a right, yet for decades, Republican legislators have passed law after law attempting to further narrow the guaranteed protections in Roe v. Wade. This case could undermine and further limit the right to abortion, creating disproportionate negative impacts on people of color, people with disabilities, people in rural areas, young people, immigrants, and those having difficulty making ends meet.

“Our nation is at a crossroads, and we must do everything in our power to protect this constitutional right.”
