DNC Statement on Memorial Day

DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement on Memorial Day:

“Today, we remember all those in our nation’s uniform who gave their lives to protect our freedoms. We honor their service and sacrifice. And in normal years, we would come together in person as families, friends, and communities to commemorate the courage of these fallen heroes. But this year, our nation is facing an unprecedented battle at home; we have lost almost 100,000 lives to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Amid this crisis, we have an even greater duty to care for our military veterans and their families. They deserve not just our gratitude but our action. Democrats will never stop fighting for those who fight for us. We will continue – through this crisis and beyond – to advocate for the support and resources these warriors need. That’s why it is imperative that we pass the HEROES Act so we can provide much-needed relief to millions of families, including those who have lost loved ones in uniform. The best way we can honor those we’ve lost is by caring for their families and for those who have returned.”
