Today, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe answered Donald Trump’s call to rig Missouri’s congressional maps so Republicans can try to save their razor-thin House majority. Once again, Republicans are proving they have no backbone and will enable Trump’s despicable schemes — including a systemic attack on voters in Missouri and across the country. 

But, Missourians aren’t backing down from this fight. Missouri organizers have launched a ballot initiative signature process to allow Missourians to vote directly on whether these rigged maps will go into effect. The DNC stands side by side with Missourians who are spearheading this valiant fight to protect their voting rights and put a stop to Republicans’ attacks. 

In response to Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe signing Republicans’ rigged maps into law, DNC Ken Martin released the following statement: 

“At the order of Donald Trump, Governor Kehoe and Missouri Republicans have shown they care more about holding onto power at all costs than the fundamental rights of the Missourians they were elected to represent. This is a right-wing power grab so Republicans can avoid accountability for voting to take away the health care of hundreds of thousands of Missourians. But the battle in Missouri isn’t over. Missourians have the opportunity to put this craven power grab up for a vote. The DNC supports Missouri organizers collecting ballot signatures to take democracy back into their own hands and defeat these rigged maps once and for all.”
