In response to Rhode Island state Senator Dominick Ruggerio’s passing, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement: 

“Senator Dominick Ruggerio was a trailblazer and force to be reckoned with advocating on behalf of the state of Rhode Island. Born and raised in North Providence, RI, Dominick had a decorated, decadeslong career as a public servant, keeping Rhode Island close to his heart throughout all the chapters of his life. His decades of service, from the Lieutenant Governor’s Office to becoming the longest-serving senator in the Rhode Island state legislature, leave behind a legacy that will be cemented in history and remembered by future generations. Although we mourn the loss of an incredible leader, his legacy will forever live on through those who follow the path he paved.”
