DNC Statement on Republicans Voting Against Lower Insulin Prices
April 1, 2022
Today, the overwhelming majority of House Republicans just voted against capping insulin prices. DNC spokesperson Adonna Biel released the following statement:
“Today’s vote shows just how backward the Republican agenda truly is. While Democrats are fighting to lower costs for hardworking Americans, Republicans are fighting to keep costs high and make health care less accessible. You don’t have to take our word for it–a Senate Republican admitted a Republican majority would do absolutely nothing to lower drug prices, and House Republicans proved that today. Every voter can count on hearing how Republican control could mean higher health care costs and higher taxes.”
Republicans continue to blow the door open on their agenda that would raise taxes on half of Americans, make health care more expensive, undermine preexisting condition protections, and do nothing to lower prescription drug costs:
MSNBC: “Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who has previously negotiated a plan to lower prescription drug costs with Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), admitted during a committee hearing it would likely be hard to pass if his own party regained control of Congress. He called on Democrats to pass it now.”
