DNC Statement on Thanksgiving

To celebrate this Thanksgiving Day, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison released the following statement:

“As Thanksgiving begins, I can’t help but think of how far we have come from last year. Last year, millions more were unemployed, there were long lines at food banks, businesses closed their doors, and our hearts were heavy as we were forced to celebrate Thanksgiving away from families. This year, thanks to President Biden and Democrats, every American adult has access to a vaccine, our economy is experiencing a historic recovery, and millions of Americans are back to work. But greatest of all, we can again safely gather in our homes and communities with the people we love the most.

“This year, we have so much to be thankful for. We’re thankful for the first responders and medical professionals who continue to risk their lives to save ours; for the activists and organizers who march every day to bring us closer to that goal of equality for all; for our public servants who delivered a historic rescue fund to aid recovery from the pandemic, and the Build Back Better Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that will rebuild our crumbling infrastructure, address the climate crisis, give parents child care support and lower health care costs; for a president whose leadership and bold vision is bringing us out of the pandemic and back with our families; and for the Americans in uniform who sacrifice every day to keep us safe and uphold the values of our nation.

“This year, thanks to strong leadership and swift action, we are reclaiming a tradition that last year felt like it was lost to us forever. The Democratic Party and I wish you and your loved ones a wonderful Thanksgiving.”
