DNC Statement On The Majority of Republicans Voting To Crash The Economy And Cut Medicare

Today, the majority of Republicans voted against the bipartisan proposal to raise the debt ceiling, threatening to crash the economy and cut Medicare. DNC spokesperson Adonna Biel released the following statement:

“Time and time again, Republicans have made their priorities painfully clear with no regard for the impact on American families. Today, the majority of Senate Republicans, alongside nearly every single House Republican, showed their recklessness knows no bounds. Their votes today confirmed Republicans are not only fine with crashing the economy and throwing millions of Americans into unemployment, but that they’re also completely fine with drastic cuts to Medicare. Thankfully, while Republicans root against our economic recovery and cheer when families are struggling, Democrats remain the responsible party, focused on doing the work of delivering for families.”
