DNC Statement on the RNC Fundraising Off of Trump’s Threats of Political Violence and Racist Fearmongering
April 2, 2024
In response to the RNC fundraising off of Donald Trump’s “bloodbath” threats of political violence, DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement:
“The RNC’s attempt to fundraise off of Donald Trump’s threats of political violence while promoting Trump’s hateful and divisive fearmongering is a shameful new low for a committee that has repeatedly hit rock bottom only to sink further into toxic MAGA extremism that is driving away voters – and donors – ahead of November.”
After Donald Trump promised a “bloodbath” if he loses in November…
Trump: “If I don’t get elected, it’s gonna be a bloodbath for the whole- that’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country.”
… MAGA Republicans once again quickly rushed to his defense, while the RNC is trying to fundraise off his dangerous comments.
Politico: “Reaction to Trump’s speech: When is ‘a bloodbath’ not a bloodbath?”
“Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) also accepted the interpretation of Trump’s ‘bloodbath’ as pertaining to the American auto industry.”
“Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), speaking on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press,’ also said he was dubious about the uproar over Trump’s language Saturday. … Cassidy said the press must bear some blame for interpreting Trump’s remarks in the worst possible light.”
Trump is once again facing intense criticism for his extreme and dangerous rhetoric.
