DNC Statement on Trump’s Visit to Wisconsin
June 28, 2018
DNC Midwest Press Secretary Mandy McClure released the following statement on Donald Trump’s visit to Wisconsin:
“Donald Trump and Scott Walker have plenty to bond over at today’s events in Milwaukee and Mt. Pleasant – they’re both anti-worker and consistently put big corporations and the 1% ahead of hardworking families. Instead of working to create economic opportunities for everyone, Trump and Walker’s policies have made it harder for low-wage workers to feed their families and search for higher-paying jobs, all while they they cut funding for job training programs and push a tax law that gave massive tax breaks to the top 1% and big corporations.
“Tax cuts for the rich and big corporations is not a jobs plan, but Walker is so afraid of losing Trump’s support that he’s still touting Trump’s tax scam even after it led to 600 Kimberly-Clark workers losing their jobs. And Walker’s Foxconn deal actually puts Wisconsin’s taxpayers on the hook for as much as $4.5 billion, while the incentives Walker handed to Foxconn are projected to take at least a quarter-century just to break even.
“Trump has repeatedly promised he would protect American workers, but the story in Wisconsin is the same story we are seeing all across the country. With the corporate, anti-worker agenda he’s made the centerpiece of his tenure, it’s obvious Walker would continue to be nothing more than a rubber stamp for the Trump administration’s extreme agenda. While Scott Walker has proven he won’t stand up for working families, Democrats will continue to fight to expand economic opportunities for all Americans.”
