DNC Statement on Women’s Marches Around the World
January 20, 2018
DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement on the anniversary of Donald Trump’s inauguration and the Women’s Marches taking place in the U.S. and around the world:
“One year ago today, Donald Trump and Mike Pence were sworn in and immediately began turning back the clock on women’s rights. The day after Trump’s inauguration, millions of women harnessed their political power and responded with marches that took over streets and cities around the world. At a time when women’s rights are under assault from Republicans, women are responding with overwhelming activism — organizing, voting, and putting their own names on the ballot in record numbers.
“Women are the core of our Democratic Party and the leaders in the resistance against President Trump, Vice President Pence, and the Republican lawmakers across the country who are attacking women’s rights and working families like never before. As people come together today, the DNC, in partnership with a dozen state parties, will be standing side by side with these courageous activists and asking Americans to commit to vote for Democrats in 2018. The DNC is committed to keeping voters engaged from now until election day because every voice deserves to be heard and counted.”
