Following a Hartford Courant report on Trump’s address at the United States Coast Guard Academy commencement Wednesday, DNC Deputy Press Secretary Brian Gabriel released the following statement:

“This morning, Trump told the newest graduates of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy that ‘Over the course of your life, you will find that things are not always fair.’  As he stared into a sea of cadets this morning, the President did so while questions remain about whether he will make deep cuts to the Coast Guard budget.

“The Coast Guard is also on the hook for protecting the President during his frequent trips to Mar-a-Lago. President Trump is fine asking the Coast Guard to do more with less, as long as he gets to spend his weekends golfing.”
