Donald the Denier: Trump’s MAGA Minions Deny Climate Change and Put Americans’ Futures at Risk

This Earth Week, as MAGA Republicans follow Donald Trump’s lead in denying the climate crisis, DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement:

“Trump’s MAGA minions think climate change is everything from a ‘hoax’ to a ‘scam,’ and refuse to address the crisis while American families pay the price. The American people chose President Biden and Democrats’ historic agenda to tackle the climate crisis and deliver good, sustainable jobs over Trump’s reality-denying extremism once before, and they’ll do it again this November.”

Following Donald Trump’s kooky, conspiratorial lead, MAGA Republicans continue to deny the reality of climate change and put our future and our energy security at risk.

Mike Johnson: “The climate is changing, but the question is, is it being caused by natural cycles over the span of the Earth’s history? Or is it changing because we drive S.U.V.s? I don’t believe in the latter. I don’t think that’s the primary driver.”

Tim Scott: “The problem is Democrats have abandoned common sense. We got the first taste of this administration’s radical environmental agenda when President Biden announced last summer that global warming was our country’s biggest national security threat.”

Kristi Noem: “I think that the science has been varied on it, and it hasn’t been proven to me that what we’re doing is affecting the climate.”

Vivek Ramaswamy: “Wherever you stand on climate change, I think most of the climate change agenda is, I’m just going to say it, is a hoax.”

Byron Donalds: “No, I don’t [think there’s a correlation between recent heat waves and climate change.]”

Marjorie Taylor Greene: “People are not affecting climate change. You’re going to tell me that back in the ice age, how much taxes did people pay, and how many changes did governments make to melt the ice? The climate is going to continue to change.”

Tom Cotton: “[T]here’s no question that climate action is a combination conspiracy, really, a climate cartel that’s specifically designed to drive up the price of gasoline for America’s consumers. Driving up the price of electricity by putting pressure on the oil and gas industries or businesses that are heavy users of oil and gas.”

Marco Rubio: “I do not believe that human activity is causing these dramatic changes to our climate the way these scientists are portraying it. That’s what I do not – and I do not believe that the laws that they propose we pass will do anything about it. Except it will destroy our economy.”

Kevin McCarthy: “President Biden has said previously that he believes the number one threat America is facing is climate change. That is not true.”

J.D. Vance: “And even if there was a climate crisis, I don’t know how the way to solve it is to buy more Chinese-manufactured electric vehicles. The whole EV thing is a scam, right? So set to the side these questions about, you know, how much carbon drives the climate change situation. Look, I’m with you on this. I do not wake up in the morning thinking, [we’ve got] a climate crisis we need to destroy the economy to deal with.”

Ron DeSantis: “This is driven by ideology. It’s not driven by reality. In reality, human beings are safer than ever from climate disasters.”

Lindsey Graham: “I don’t want to be lectured about what we need to do to destroy our economy in the name of climate change. The Democratic Party has made climate change a religion and their solutions are draconian.”
