Even MAGA Republicans and Their Friends on Fox Admit the Impeachment Inquiry is an Evidence-Free Sham

After months of wasting time and taxpayer dollars and failing to produce any evidence, MAGA Republicans are charging ahead with their sham impeachment inquiry this week, once again showing the American people that they’d rather put on political theater than do the actual work of governing.

House Republicans are continuing to drag out their sham impeachment inquiry despite the fact that GOP lawmakers have publicly conceded that they have no evidence to show for their monthslong probe.

USA Today: “Mitt Romney says he doesn’t see ‘any evidence’ to authorize Joe Biden impeachment inquiry”

Rep. Ken Buck: “The time for impeachment is the time when there’s evidence linking President Biden, if there’s evidence linking President Biden to a high crime or misdemeanor, that doesn’t exist right now.”

Rep. Darrell Issa: “The actual participation by the vice president and now president—that still has to be discovered and/or nailed down.”

CNN: “And one GOP lawmaker, granted anonymity to speak more freely, offered an even blunter assessment: ‘There’s no evidence that Joe Biden got money, or that Joe Biden, you know, agreed to do something so that Hunter could get money. There’s just no evidence of that. And they can’t impeach without that evidence. And I don’t I don’t think the evidence exists.’”

Rep. Chuck Edwards: “I’ve heard over and over that President Biden has not been implicated or proven for any wrongdoing here, and I acknowledge that.”

Sen. Shelley Moore: “‘I don’t know what the evidence is,’ said Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of Senate GOP leadership, making clear she didn’t think the House had sufficient grounds to move forward.”

Stephen Neukam: “Newsy: Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., told a small group of reporters this morning that there are “probably not” high crimes or misdemeanors that Joe Biden has committed. But he still plans to vote to authorize the impeachment inquiry.”

Even Fox News’ conservative pundits are admitting that the inquiry is a complete sham and a waste of time.

Neil Cavuto: “The promise of explosive testimony and incontrovertible proof, that did not materialize today.”

Gillian Turner: “There has not been produced a smoking gun.”

Not only has the House GOP failed to produce any shred of evidence, but Republicans have openly admitted that the stunt is politically motivated.

Washington Post: “On the other hand, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) made headlines last week when he predicted House Republicans would impeach Biden ‘whether it’s justified or not’ because ‘the Democrats weaponized impeachment’ when they twice formally accused Trump of wrongdoing.”

USA Today: “For what it’s worth, Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, one of Trump’s most vocal supporters in the House, has not shied away from pushing for Biden’s impeachment in part to play politics. If Trump, who has been impeached twice, is the 2024 Republican nominee, Nehls said he wants to give Trump ‘a little bit of ammo to fire back’ and say Biden has also been impeached.”

Rep. Matt Gaetz: “I will concede that the votes I have called for will

likely fail — term limits, balanced budgets, maybe even impeachment. I am prepared for that eventuality because at least if we take votes, the American people get to see who is fighting for them.”

Don’t just take it from Fox News – the House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into President Biden is baseless.

MSNBC: “GOP-led House pushes forward with Biden impeachment inquiry despite no clear evidence of wrongdoing”

Los Angeles Times: “The politically inspired impeachment inquiry into President Biden has failed to produce any convincing evidence that Biden has committed the ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ required by the U.S. Constitution for the conviction and removal of a chief executive. … But it’s hard not to see it as the latest attempt by the House Republicans leadership to placate the far-right cohort of their conference and Trump cultists in the party at large.”

CNN: “Republicans have presented no evidence Biden himself received foreign money”

Vanity Fair: “Mike Johnson Predicts Full GOP Support for Biden Impeachment Inquiry, Despite Republicans Not Having Any Actual Evidence Against Biden”

CBS News: “Republicans have been trying to show that Mr. Biden was enriched by his family’s foreign business dealings and that he accepted bribes, but have produced no evidence so far that the president engaged in any wrongdoing.”

Associated Press: “Republicans have been struggling to show progress in the nearly year-long probe of the president and business deals by members of his family, including his son, Hunter Biden. They have presented no evidence to prove that the president, in his current or previous office, abused his role or accepted bribes.”

NBC News: “House GOP’s impeachment witnesses say there’s no evidence yet that Biden committed a crime”

Axios: “House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into President Biden is predicated on allegations about the firing of a Ukrainian prosecutor that have been debunked — under oath — by at least nine government witnesses.”

MAGA Republicans are putting on this political theater for an audience of one – Donald Trump. Instead of doing the work of governing, they’re doing his bidding and trying to score cheap political points.

CNN: “Donald Trump has publicly and privately encouraged House Republicans’ push to impeach President Joe Biden ahead of their potential rematch in 2024, two sources close to the former president said.”

Associated Press: “It’s a political escalation, urged on by Trump, after his own two impeachments. The prospect of a Biden impeachment inquiry also comes as Trump faces mounting legal cases, including a potential federal indictment in the investigation led by Special Counsel Jack Smith over his efforts to overturn the election in the run-up to the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol.”

Trump: “And had they not done it to me, I think, and nobody officially said this, but I think had they not done it to me … perhaps you wouldn’t have it being done to them.”

New York Magazine: “In December 2019, when he was facing impeachment for his scheme to extort Ukraine into smearing his leading political opponent, President Donald Trump warned that his party would take revenge when it had the opportunity. ‘Some day there’ll be a Democrat president and there’ll be a Republican House, and I suspect they’re going to remember it,’ Trump predicted.”
