Excerpts from DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz at Hillary Clinton Rally with Tim Kaine in Miami

MIAMI, FLORIDADNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz delivered remarks yesterday at the rally where Hillary Clinton introduced Tim Kaine as her running mate. The following are excerpts of her remarks as prepared for delivery:

DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz

. . .For the past week, I’ve been in Cleveland – in another battleground state. And let me tell you, it feels good to be home among friends!  All we heard from the Republican convention last week was more of the same divisive rhetoric, more attacks, more anger. Just bitterness, division, gloom and doom.

What we didn't hear was a single new idea, policy or proposal to improve the lives of hardworking Americans.  South Florida we are better than Donald Trump’s dangerous and divisive rhetoric. We are better. And America is better than that!

But you know, in the end, their entire convention really all came down to just two important words in Donald’s Speech.  Did you hear what he said? “I. Alone.”  He said “I alone can fix” America’s problems.

Well, there’s a word for that kind of government, and it’s not “Democracy!” In America, our greatest achievements have never been accomplished alone.  We are a country made up of beautifully diverse communities! Hardworking people of all races and creeds, trying to build a better life for their families — and there’s no better reflection of that than right here in South Florida!  That’s the America that became the world’s greatest democracy and the world’s greatest economy!  Well Democrats, on Monday, it’s our turn.  I’m going to proudly gavel in our convention in the city of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection where we will make our case to the American people for our vision.

It’s a new beginning for a vision that under President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden brought us back from the brink of economic collapse.

And Donald, those of us in the Democratic Party have two words of our own: “Stronger. Together.” We are stronger together, and together, we’re going to build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top.  That’s what Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine believe, and that’s the message that’s going to carry them all the way to the White House!  Friends, we made history when we nominated President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden eight years ago.  Now we’re ready for Hillary! And we’re ready to make history once more when she accepts our party's nomination to become the 45th President of the United States!

And starting today, she’s got a new ally in her corner, a new fighter on her team. He’s a man that I have had the privilege of fighting alongside both at our Democratic headquarters and under the Capitol Dome. . .From now until Election Day, we have to keep saying it loud and proud: I'm With Her.
