FACT CHECK: Trump Lies About Republicans Protecting People With Pre-Existing Conditions

At his Las Vegas rally last night, Trump said that he and Republicans “will protect patients with pre-existing conditions. We're going to do that.” That couldn’t be further from the truth. The reality is that Trump and Republicans are backing a lawsuit to eliminate the Affordable Care Act’s protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

While Trump lies about his health care sabotage, Americans across the country live in fear that they won’t be able to get the care they need:

“From having a pre-existing condition to staying on my parents’ healthcare until I was 26, the ACA allowed me to live my life to the fullest, and more importantly allowed me to live – period.  We need to preserve and build on it so more people get the life-saving protection that I have received.” – Pennsylvania resident with a pre-existing condition

“If you destroy protections for pre-existing conditions, you will leave me and all the kids and adults like me without care or without the ability to afford our care—all because of who we are.” – 13-year-old Jackson Corbin in his testimony against Kavanaugh
