November 17, 2020
Fact checkers have had their work cut out for them over the past few days with Trump’s refusal to accept the election results and baseless claims of voter fraud. Almost nothing Trump says is true and he can’t change the reality that he was decisively beaten by President-elect Biden.
Fact checkers agree that there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud and that President-elect Biden decisively won the election.
AP FACT CHECK: “Trump conclusively lost, denies the evidence”
FactCheck.org: “No evidence has been produced to support that assertion.”
Washington Post Fact Checker: “By any reasonable calculation, President Trump was decisively beaten by Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.”
Fact checkers have had their work cut out for them with Trump’s baseless claims and election denial, but almost nothing he or his allies say is true.
AP FACT CHECK: “President Donald Trump rebelled this past week against Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election with denial, delay and outright misrepresentation.”
CNN: “Trump did not win the election. So this was a fitting conclusion to his lie-filled weekend barrage of tweets, in which he continued to invent imaginary evidence in support of his attempt to deny Joe Biden’s victory. Almost nothing Trump is saying about the election is true.”
Washington Post Fact Checker: “There’s no law that says you cannot lie on television. So Giuliani has made the rounds of TV shows, making outrageous claims that fall apart instantly.”
Washington Post Fact Checker: “President Trump did not appear in public Monday. But the pixels of his Twitter feed continued to live in a world of alternative reality.”
