Five Questions for MAGA Mike Johnson: from Imprisoning Doctors to Forced Sterilization

Mike Johnson sat down for a pointless softball interview with Sean Hannity last night after spending this week refusing to answer questions about his record, including his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. As the truth about his extreme, far-right record comes to light, MAGA Mike owes the American people answers.

1. Do you believe Joe Biden is the legitimate president of the United States, and that he won the 2020 election?

HuffPost: “Johnson, a former lawyer, led an amicus brief signed by over 100 Republican members of Congress backing a flawed Texas lawsuit that asked the Supreme Court to overturn the 2020 election. He also played a key role in crafting the rationale that many of his GOP colleagues used in justifying their votes to throw out the 2020 election results ― even just hours after the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection.”

Washington Post: “Johnson played one of the most significant roles of any member of Congress in the effort to overturn the election.”

2. Would you throw doctors in prison, force them to do “hard labor,” and fine them thousands for dollars for providing reproductive care?

@RepMikeJohnson: “🚨🚨BREAKING: Late yesterday, the La. Department of Health informed abortion facilities in our state that the right to life has now been RESTORED!

Perform an abortion and get imprisoned at hard labor for 1-10 yrs & fined $10K-$100K.”

3. Do you stand by your comments that gay marriage would lead to “sexual anarchy,” including pedophilia and bestiality?

Johnson: “If you change the definition of marriage, then you open the floodgates for chaos and sexual anarchy.”

Johnson: “If we change marriage for this tiny, modern minority, we will have to do it for every deviant group. Polygamists, polyamorists, pedophiles, and others will be next in line to claim equal protection. They already are. There will be no legal basis to deny a bisexual the right to marry a partner of each sex, or a person to marry his pet.”

4. Will you continue pushing to abolish Social Security and Medicare as we know them, two essential programs America’s seniors rely on?

Johnson: “We have to get back to [entitlement reform] as the number one priority.”

“The Conservative Playbook” by the Republican Study Committee, led by Chairman Mike Johnson in the 116th Congress: “With our entitlement programs facing dire financial futures and more Americans receiving welfare benefits than ever before, we cannot afford to waste money simply because the federal bureaucracy writes checks to the wrong people or for the wrong amount.”

5. Do you think transgender Americans should be forced to face “state-sanctioned sterilization?”

Insider: “He served as an attorney for the Alliance Defense Fund, now known as the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a leading Christian law firm committed to protecting religious freedom, free speech, marriage and family, parental rights, and the sanctity of life, according to its website. The Southern Poverty Law Center listed the ADF as an anti-LGBTQ+ hate group in 2016 for its support for the recriminalization of sexual acts between consenting LGBTQ+ adults and state-sanctioned sterilization of trans people, among other reasons.”
