Four Questions Following Donald Jr.’s Meeting
July 11, 2017
- Donald Jr. appears to have held a phone call with Emin Agalarov, the son of Putin-tied oligarch Aras Agalarov, about the Russian government’s effort to help his father’s campaign. The Agalarovs have also indicated that they’ve been in contact with the Trumps since Election Day. What did Donald Jr. discuss with Emin Agalarov, and did he or his father have additional conversations with the Agalarovs about Russia’s effort to help Trump win?
- The meeting between Donald Jr., Manafort, Kushner and the Russian lawyer took place one floor below Trump’s office at Trump Tower while Donald Trump Sr. was in New York City and holding meetings in the same building. It was set up by Emin Agalarov, who had a close connection to Donald Sr. Donald Jr.’s email exchanges also included an email from Rob Goldstone where he said, “I can also send this info to your father.” What did Donald Trump Sr. know and when did he know it?
- Jared Kushner not only attended this meeting, but was forwarded the email chain explaining the Russian government’s effort to help his father-in-law. Kushner now holds a top-level security clearance, but he did not report this meeting on his initial clearance application, only doing so recently as part of an update. When exactly did Jared Kushner disclose this meeting, what did he disclose about it, and did he disclose the contents of the email chain he received?
- In Donald Jr.’s email exchanges, Rob Goldstone said that he would send over two names for security. We know that Donald Jr. met with the Russian lawyer, but who was the other person involved in the meeting and these email exchanges?
