Here’s What You Need to Know About Trump’s Record

As Donald Trump heads to Texas, we wanted to make sure you remember just how extreme his MAGA agenda is – paving the way to ban abortion nationwide, proposing cuts to Medicare and Social Security programs, cutting taxes for the ultra-wealthy, and spouting election-denying conspiracy theories.

Not only has Trump left the door open to cutting Social Security and Medicare in a second term, but he proposed cuts to these programs every single year he was in office.

Axios (January 2020): “Asked by CNBC Wednesday if cuts to entitlements would now be something he’d consider, Trump responded: ‘At the right time, we will take a look at that.’”

Washington Post: “His avowed stance, however, is at odds with Trump’s own record as president: Each of his White House budget proposals included cuts to Social Security and Medicare programs.”

Trump insists that he alone holds the strongest anti-abortion record by appointing three Supreme Court justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade. His team brags that his anti-abortion record is “unmatched.”

Donald Trump: “Nobody has ever done more for right to life than Donald Trump. I put three Supreme Court justices who all voted, and they got something that they’ve been fighting for for 64 years.”

The Washington Post: “Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump, said in a statement that Trump’s ‘unmatched record speaks for itself,’ pointing to his policies and appointments of anti abortion federal judges and Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade last summer, erasing a ruling that established a constitutional right to abortion and delivering a decades-long priority for conservative Christians.”

Donald Trump: “There has to be some form of punishment [for women who have abortions].”

Trump has put the ultra-wealthy and special interests over working families – handing out billions in tax cuts to the ultra-rich and biggest corporations.

Forbes: “Trump Tax Cuts Helped Billionaires Pay Less Taxes Than The Working Class In 2018”

Forbes: “However, the fact that the ultra-rich potentially pay a lower tax rate than the working class is a massive problem. The Trump administration’s tax cuts for the wealthy highlight the fact that policy is moving in the wrong direction.”

The Guardian: “They were billed as a ‘middle-class miracle” but according to a new book Donald Trump’s $1.5tn tax cuts have helped billionaires pay a lower rate than the working class for the first time in history.”

New York Times Opinion: “President Trump’s 2017 tax cut, which was largely a handout to the rich, plays a role, too. It helped push the tax rate on the 400 wealthiest households below the rates for almost everyone else.”

EVERY SINGLE YEAR he was in office, Trump proposed cuts to law enforcement in his federal budget.

Jonathan Allen, NBC News: “When Trump was president, he proposed slashing federal funding for local police forces.”

And let’s not forget that Trump continues to spread baseless conspiracies about the 2020 election – which he lost by 7 million votes –  and ultimately incited a mob that attacked the Capitol and tried to overturn an election.

Associated Press: “Trump, running for the White House for the third time, has signaled that the 2020 election will remain an integral part of his 2024 presidential bid. In a recent call with reporters about a new book, Trump pointed to polls that show a sizable number of people believe the 2020 election was stolen, even though there is no such evidence. ‘I’m an election denier,’ Trump said. ‘You’ve got a lot of election deniers in this country and they’re not happy about what’s happened.’”
