ICYMI: Ahead of State of the Union, DNC Chair Harrison and Senior Advisor Cedric Richmond Tout Biden’s Record
February 7, 2023
In case you missed it, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison and Senior Advisor Cedric Richmond hit national airwaves ahead of the State of the Union address to highlight how President Biden and his administration have been delivering for the American people.
Chair Harrison: “This president has delivered for the American people.”
Harrison: “We have done so much. One other thing we could add – more jobs created in two years than any other president has created in four years. Accomplishment after accomplishment after accomplishment, this president has delivered for the American people. We just need to make sure that we get out there to sell this so they understand it, so they see the whole breadth of all of this. The reason why you elect a president is because you want them to do something. This president has done a whole lot. And so there’s a lot to be proud of, there’s a lot to sell.”
Congressman Richmond: “President Biden is building the economy from the bottom up and middle out.”
Richmond: “[The State of the Union] gives the president an opportunity to talk directly to the American people, and in this chance, he gets to remind the American people that unemployment is at its lowest rate since 1969, that he’s created more jobs than any president in his two years than most presidents in their four years, he gets to talk about all of those accomplishments which people didn’t think he could accomplish – the infrastructure bill, beating the gun lobby and enacting sensible gun reform – and then he gets to talk about what the next few years will be about. Part of that will have to contrast with the fact that he’s building the economy from the bottom up and the middle out, and Republicans are one, obstructing progress but two, doubling down on the fact that they want to raise taxes on the middle class at the same time giving the top one percent a three trillion dollar break.”
