ICYMI: DNC Launches First Paid Ad Blitz of the Harris-Walz Ticket, New, Historic Six-Figure Investment into Democrats Abroad

Yesterday, the DNC launched its first paid advertising campaign since the announcement of the Harris-Walz ticket, blanketing the Las Vegas Strip and 80 billboards across seven key battleground states with a new contrast ad that sends a clear message to voters:

Vice President Harris and Governor Tim Walz are fighting for working people while Donald Trump and JD Vance are only out for themselves.

Additionally, yesterday, the DNC announced an historic six-figure investment in Democrats Abroad, the first ever during a presidential cycle, to further ramp up Democrats Abroad’s extensive efforts to register and earn the votes of the nearly 9 million Americans living and serving overseas. Democrats are committed to doing everything in their power to meet voters where they are and ensure no stone goes unturned.

Take a look at some of the coverage below:

Variety: Harris-Walz Advertising Hits Las Vegas Strip as DNC Buys Swing State Billboards

The Democratic National Committee is unveiling a series of billboards in swing states on Monday, as it launches the paid media campaign for the Kamala Harris–Tim Walz ticket.

The ads — including one on the Strip — draw a contrast between the Democratic ticket (“Fighting for You”) against Donald Trump and JD Vance (“Out for Themselves.”)

“In the final weeks leading up to Election Day, voters across the battlegrounds are tuning into the clear choice before them: a vision for America that prioritizes the needs of working people, that prizes our rights and freedoms, and that helps all communities get ahead, or a dark vision that drags us backwards and puts billionaires ahead of working families,” said Abhi Rahman, deputy communications director at the DNC.

“In the final weeks leading up to Election Day, voters across Arizona are tuning into the clear choice before them: a vision for Arizonans that prioritizes the needs of working people, that prizes our rights and freedoms, and that helps all communities get ahead, or a dark vision that drags us backwards and puts billionaires ahead of working Arizona families,” DNC spokesman Cameron Niven said in a statement to the Arizona Mirror.

[Aaron Navarro and Anne Bryson, 8/12/24]

“The Democratic Party is making a first-time investment in registering and turning out voters living outside of the United States. The party is estimating that some 1.6 million Americans abroad are from crucial battleground states this cycle.

“According to details first shared with CBS News, the Democratic National Committee is investing $300,000 to reach voters outside the country — military and non-military. The investment, which the DNC says is its first in a presidential cycle, is meant to help ‘Democrats Abroad,’ the main Democratic group in charge of registering and assisting non-military voters outside the U.S. with their mail-in ballots.

“‘This election will be won on the margins, and every single vote counts,’ said DNC Deputy Executive Director Roger Lau. “Democrats are leaving nothing to chance, investing heavily with our abroad party to ensure every single U.S. citizen has a voice in this election.’”

“‘The DNC is leaving no stone left unturned to ensure that Kamala Harris will be the next president of the United States,’ it said in a statement, noting that only 8% of Americans living outside the country had registered to vote in the 2020 election.”

“DNC Deputy Executive Director Roger Lau added that the 2024 race ‘will be won on the margins, and every single vote counts.’”
