The DNC’s “Build Back Better” bus tour criss-crossed the Sun Belt states with stops in Durham, North Carolina, Atlanta, Georgia, Houston, and San Antonio, Texas. Local leaders, including Congressman David Price, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Congresswoman and Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia Nikema Williams, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, Congressman Joaquin Castro, former HUD Secretary Julián Castro, and more, highlighted how President Biden and Democrats are delivering for the American people with the creation of more than four million jobs, tax cuts for middle-class families, and lower health care costs. The bus stopped in San Antonio today and is making stops in more than ten states across the South, Mountain West, Midwest, and Northeast throughout the month of August.

San Antonio Current: San Antonio’s Castro brothers tout Biden’s infrastructure bill as Democratic bus tour rolls into town
Congressman Joaquin Castro, D-San Antonio, and former Obama housing secretary Julián Castro joined local officials in touting the Biden administration’s infrastructure plan Thursday morning in San Antonio.
They, along with Mayor Ron Nirenberg and District 7 Councilwoman Ana Sandoval, appeared at Woodlawn Lake Park as part of the Democratic National Committee’s “Build Back Better” bus tour. The tour is hitting 10 states to promote the $1.2 trillion infrastructure package that’s a centerpiece of Joe Biden’s presidency.
“We have a chance to build an America that is more prosperous than ever before, because Americans voted to put Democrats and President Biden in charge,” said Julián Castro, a former San Antonio mayor and 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful. “Your vote counts.”

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and state leaders highlighted President Biden and Democrat efforts for the American people on the creation of more than four million new jobs, tax cuts for middle-class families and lower health care costs Wednesday at the DNC’s “Build Back Better” bus tour in Houston.
The mayor thanked the Biden-Harris administration as he welcomed the bus to Houston. He noted that 2020 was a very painful time for a lot of families throughout the United States and said since Biden has taken office, his administration has helped provide additional relief with the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
Turner said families in Houston and Harris County have benefited from the act by allowing local officials to provide rental and utility assistance to those in need. He said because of the ARPA, the city’s emergency rental assistance program provided funds to more than 45,000 households during the pandemic.

On Friday (Aug. 13), the Democratic National Committee’s “Build Back Better” bus tour made a stop in Durham with Congressman David Price and other elected officials. During the stop, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison, Congressman David Price, and local leaders highlighted how President Biden and Democrats are delivering for the American people with the creation of more than four million new jobs, tax cuts for middle-class families, and lower health care costs. The tour comes as lawmakers in both parties gear up for a messaging war ahead of the 2022 midterms. It coincides with Congress’ August recess — when members of the House and Senate are already back in their districts. Speaking at the tour stop, in addition to Harrison and Price, were NC Representative Zack Hawkins. NC Senator Natalie Murdock, and local parent, John Verdejo.
