ICYMI: Local Officials Agree with President Biden: Fund Public Safety

On Friday, President Biden joined state and local officials from across the country to discuss how the Biden-Harris administration is getting local law enforcement the resources they need to help keep communities safe. This funding was made possible by the American Rescue Plan, which every single congressional Republican voted against. The president also used the meeting to urge local leaders to make more investments in public safety. 

President Biden announced that $10 billion in American Rescue Plan funds have already been committed toward public safety – including at least $6.5 billion in state and local funds committed by more than half of states and more than 300 communities across the country. Along with ongoing state and local support from the Justice Department, American Rescue Plan investments made 2021 among the largest single-year commitments of federal resources for state and local law enforcement and public safety on record.
