ICYMI: Trump Throws Yet Another Decadent Party While Leaving Millions of Americans Out To Dry
November 9, 2025

This weekend, Donald Trump proved once again just how out of touch he is with reality. While Trump continues to keep the government shut down and refuses to help 42 million Americans put food on the table, Trump is spending his weekend once again throwing lavish parties at Mar-a-Lago, auctioning off jewels and $64k trips, and playing golf. For the second weekend in a row, Trump jetsetted to Palm Beach to throw a massive party for his billionaire buddies, including his friend Argentinian President Javier Milei, who celebrated his $40 billion bailout from Trump. Meanwhile, millions of Americans can forget about affording groceries, including sky-high prices for beef, heading into the holiday season.
To add insult to injury, late last night, the Trump administration ordered states that stepped in to keep families and children from going hungry in November to undo their efforts or face financial penalties.
It’s no wonder voters delivered a sharp rebuke of Trump’s disastrous policies last week. While Trump and his wealthy friends toast to his ever-growing fortune, working families are being backed into a corner, forced to decide whether to pay their rent, put food on the table, or forgo their health insurance because their premiums have simply become a liability. While he lines the pockets of the top 1%, Democrats are working to bring down prices, address the skyrocketing cost of living, and fix the affordability crisis that Trump doesn’t “want to hear about.”
In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“Trump is leading the country straight into a ‘Gilded Recession,’ and voters are fed up. Grocery prices are at an all-time high, the labor market is shedding jobs at a record pace, and everyday Americans are struggling to make ends meet. And what is Trump doing? Walking the red carpet at Mar-a-Lago, fawning over decadent ice sculptures, and auctioning off beach vacations for his billionaire buddies. To make matters worse, Trump is actively doing everything in his power to deny 42 million Americans their full SNAP benefits and can’t be bothered to help the 22 million Americans who are contending with massive health care price hikes. While working families’ priorities are affording basic necessities, Trump’s only concerns are enriching himself and his ultrawealthy friends.”
