In FOX News Sunday Appearance, DNC Chair Martin Slams Trump for Disastrous First 100 Days in Office

Today, DNC Chair Ken Martin made his first Sunday Show appearance on Fox News Sunday, where he slammed Donald Trump and the GOP for tanking the economy and threatening to gut essential programs for working families in order to give handouts to billionaires. Chair Martin laid out how Trump is steering the US economy toward a recession, putting critical programs like Medicaid on the chopping block, and breaking promises he made to the American people. While Trump fails to deliver for hardworking Americans, Democrats are holding him and Republicans accountable.

Find highlights from Chair Martin’s interview below:

On Trump tanking the economy:

“Most Americans and most economists believe we are headed towards a recession. … The economy is failing the American people. Donald Trump said he would lower prices, prices are increasing. … He said he would have a booming economy, the economy has shrunk, the GDP shrunk in the first quarter.”

“The tariffs that he’s put on for sure are going to increase prices for the hardworking Americans … many of them who voted for him. So the reality is that’s where we’re focused on right now.”

On Trump and the GOP’s disastrous budget:

“This budget [Donald Trump and the GOP are] bringing forward which will cut Medicaid, all to give a tax break to the richest people in this country and corporations, and not helping hardworking Americans. … Donald Trump made a lot of promises to Americans last year, and this budget that he’s bringing forward is actually going to increase prices for the most hardworking Americans.”

On Democrats fighting for working families and holding Trump accountable:

“That’s where Democrats’ focus is at right now: Squarely on making sure that we stand up for hardworking Americans who are being left behind in this Trump economy, which is already failing 100 days in.”

“I’m here to win elections and that’s what I’m fiercely focused on right now is building the infrastructure to do that. Look, we’ve had 100 town halls in over 45 states just in the last six weeks alone because Republicans have refused to listen to their constituents. … We’re gonna make damn well sure that Americans see what exactly is happening to thousands and hundreds of thousands of people’s lives throughout this country.”
