In Texas, VP Harris Calls out GOP Attacks on Reproductive Rights

This weekend Vice President Kamala Harris traveled to Austin, Texas where she emphasized the choice that voters have when it comes to reproductive rights this November. While the Biden-Harris administration and Democrats work to expand reproductive health access, Republicans like Greg Abbott are bringing Texas backward on abortion.

KVUE: Vice President Kamala Harris discusses reproductive rights in Austin

“Vice President Kamala Harris visited Austin today with a call for Texas Democrats to turn out to the polls one month from today.

…After the Dobbs decision in June, Texas banned nearly all abortions – even in cases of rape or incest. The only exception to the ban is if a woman’s life is in danger.

…The Vice President’s message today was clear — she called laws like the Texas ban on abortion — immoral. And with that message — she issued a call to action to Texas Democrats to turn out to the polls — one month from today.”

CBS Austin:Vice President Kamala Harris makes two stops in Austin, talks abortion rights

“Harris joined the president of abortion rights group ‘NARAL Pro-choice America’ to talk about protecting reproductive rights.

She added a second stop during her trip and attended a reception to help the Democratic Party raise money to help fund voting efforts.

…Harris also called taking away a woman’s right to choose ‘truly immoral.’

‘The idea that there would be a policy and an approach that would say to someone who has survived an extreme act of violence and violation, and to then say to her, and ‘You do not have the autonomy, the authority as it relates to your body,’ that has just withstood that act,’ Harris said.”
