Ahead of key elections in 2025 and the midterms, the DNC is working to build the strongest organizing infrastructure the Party has ever had in a non-presidential election year. In a new memo, DNC Deputy Executive Director Libby Schneider touted how — in just 5 months — the DNC has mobilized 16,000 grassroots supporters who are already putting in the hard work on the ground across all 50 states. As part of Chair Martin’s guiding principle that there are no off-days and no off-years, the DNC is making crucial investments to organize early and organize everywhere — and our work is already paying off.

On Tuesday, Democrat Sam Sutton defeated Republican Nachman Caller in New York’s Senate District 22 special election — a district Trump won by 55 points in November. Sutton’s victory, by nearly a 2-1 margin, underscores Democrats’ growing momentum as we continue to sweep special election wins all throughout 2025. Let this be a warning to Republicans everywhere: In blue, red, and purple districts alike, Democrats are overperforming and winning because voters are demanding strong leaders who will fight for them, not Republicans who will only bend the knee to Trump’s extremism.

This week, House Republicans passed Trump’s “billionaires first” budget bill that would gut Medicaid and food assistance programs for millions of Americans, leaving working families without access to quality, affordable heath care or a way to put meals on the table. As Republicans schemed to undermine the American people in the dead of night, Democrats led the charge to fight back against these horrific attacks and save Medicaid. From the airwaves to press calls, Democrats sounded the alarms on the dangerous impacts of Trump’s tax scam that enriches billionaires on the backs of working families. Democrats will continue to put pressure on vulnerable Republicans and let them know if they vote against the interests of their constituents, they will lose re-election come midterms.

Meanwhile, at a time when storm-battered communities need relief the most, Trump is hellbent on gutting FEMA and causing more suffering to families already reeling with tragedy. Despite storms and tornadoes ravaging communities throughout the country, the Trump administration is asleep at the wheel — delaying relief funds that disaster-stricken communities need. Let’s be clear: Helping communities in need is a basic government obligation, and Trump is failing. While Trump focuses on enriching himself and his billionaire backers, Americans are left to pick up the pieces of their disaster-torn communities by themself.
