IN THE STATES: Democrats Launch Organizing Blitz Ahead of August Recess To Hold Republicans Accountable for Gutting Health Care

As lawmakers prepare for the August recess, the DNC announced its “Organizing Summer” August recess programming to fight back against Republicans’ Big, Beautiful Betrayal of their constituents, which includes stripping health care from 17 million Americans, ripping away food assistance from 22 million families, and shuttering rural hospitals and medical centers. The organizing blitz will include events in dozens of states, paid digital ads targeting vulnerable Republican seats, and billboard trucks sent to state and county fairs. To kick off the organizing sprint, the DNC and our state party partners are hosting events in Alaska, Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, and California this coming week.

This week, the DNC also launched a new national organizing program amidst Texas Republicans’ gerrymandering scheme. The DNC is deploying 30,000 grassroots organizers to contact Independent and Republican Texas voters, telling them exactly how Donald Trump and Greg Abbott plan to disenfranchise their vote. Instead of focusing on critical flood relief, Texas Republicans have prioritized rigging the Congressional maps in their favor at the behest of Donald Trump. In response, Democrats are stepping up to the plate and mobilizing volunteers to let persuadable Texas voters know the exact names behind efforts to sell them out.

On Wednesday, DNC Chair Ken Martin released a statement joining Texas Democrats in calling out Texas Republicans’ extreme power-grab at the behest of Donald Trump. Like fellow Democrats, Chair Martin condemned Republicans’ use of pain following a natural disaster as a political opportunity to dilute minority representation.

Finally, DNC Chair Ken Martin is sticking to his promise of getting the DNC out of D.C. by traveling across the country this past week. Some highlights include his stop with Democratic mayors from across the country in Cleveland at the Democratic Mayors Association 2025 Summit and in Portland, where he sat down with States Newsroom to talk about the new initiatives of the DNC under his watch.
