JD Vance Campaigns With Election-Denying Extremist Group That Sponsored January 6 Rally
October 15, 2024
Ahead of JD Vance’s town hall hosted by Moms for America, DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement:
“After repeatedly whitewashing the violence of January 6 and refusing to admit that Donald Trump lost the last presidential election, JD Vance is spending the last few weeks of the campaign sitting down with an extremist group that sponsored a January 6 rally. This kind of dangerous pandering to far-right extremists may appeal to a wannabe authoritarian like Trump who is threatening to use the military against the American people, but it’s a slap in the face to voters who have had enough of the Trump-Vance ticket’s reckless attempts to undermine our democracy and disrespect the rule of law.”
JD Vance is sitting down today with Moms for America, a group of extremists who bragged about sponsoring a January 6 rally.

“Kimberley Fletcher, head of the organization ‘Moms for America,’ was subpoenaed for her involvement in the organization of the Ellipse rally as well as the January 5 rally at Freedom Plaza.”
MFA Founder and President Kimberly Fletcher at a January 5 “STOP THE STEAL” rally: “So when my children, and my grandchildren ask me 10, 20 years from now ‘where were you when the republic was on the verge of collapse?’ I was right here! Fighting to my last breath to save it! And I will not stop!”
Moms for America: “Debbie Kraulidis, our Vice President, spoke at the first Stop the Steal Rally in Washington D.C. on November 14th, where hundreds of thousands of American voters attended to call on elected leaders and courts to ensure we have fair and legal elections in which only legal votes count. […]
“What happened at the Capitol has been devastating to the millions of Americans who rallied and fought the good fight for two months because we want legal and honest elections we can have confidence in. Moms For America was at all the events on January 5th and 6th, and after seeing the way the media reported it, we knew we had to set the record straight. […]
“We arrived at the Capitol (Area 9) at 12:00 PM to prepare for our Save the Republic Rally, which was 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Several moms spoke, including two moms from Congress. Mike Lindell also spoke. It was an amazing and inspiring event. After our Rally, we walked to Freedom Plaza where I spoke about the power of moms uniting to protect our vote and secure the Republic.”
Mother Jones: “Sponsors of the Pre-Attack Rally Have Taken Down Their Websites. Don’t Forget Who They Were.”
“Moms for America. This is another Schlafly-ish nonprofit. Its president and founder, Kimberly Fletcher, has been on the Trump conspiracy bandwagon for years. In October 2016, she wrote an article for the Blaze contending that Trump’s claims that he was going to be the victim of a rigged election ‘isn’t a conspiracy theory, it’s a conspiracy fact.’”
Politico: “During a rally for the conservative Moms for America, Miller, an Illinois Republican said conservatives would lose unless ‘we win the hearts and minds of our children. This is the battle. Hitler was right on one thing. He said, ‘Whoever has the youth has the future.’”
On the debate stage with Governor Walz, Vance whitewashed the violence of January 6, refused to admit that Trump lost the 2020 election, and declined to say if he would challenge this November’s election results…

NBC News: “When asked if he would challenge this year’s election results, Ohio Sen. JD Vance avoided a direct answer, instead defending Trump’s actions on Jan. 6, 2021.”
Politico: “Vance omitted Trump’s attacks on his then-Vice President Mike Pence while a violent riot raged, as well as his months of fomenting false claims that the election was stolen and urging his supporters to ‘stop the steal.’ […] Vance has previously said in interviews that he would have done in 2020 what Pence refused to do: facilitate challenges to the election at the Jan. 6 session of Congress, despite constitutional and legal restraints meant to prevent it.”
NBC News: “‘Damning non-answer’: Vance refuses to acknowledge Trump lost the 2020 election”
“JD Vance refused to acknowledge that Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election during the vice presidential debate Tuesday and downplayed the seriousness of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, which injured more than 140 law enforcement officers. He also declined to say whether he would seek to challenge the results of this year’s election.”
…which is in line with Vance’s previous behavior — he hasn’t committed to accepting this November’s election results, he’s said he wouldn’t have certified the 2020 election, and he’s consistently whitewashed the violent January 6 insurrection.
Vance: “I think the entire post-2020 thing would have gone a lot better if there had actually been an effort to provide alternative slates of electors, and to force us to have that debate. I think it would’ve been a much better thing for the country. […] [Trump] was trying to take a constitutional process to its natural conclusion.
“I think it would’ve been extraordinarily disappointing to a whole host of people that I care a lot about if Trump had just taken it [and conceded the 2020 election before January 6].”
Vance: “No real Republican with any credibility in the party is still blaming [Trump for January 6].”
The Hill: “JD Vance says he is ‘skeptical’ Pence’s life was in danger on Jan. 6”
Politico: “[Vance] downplayed the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol, when Pence was forced to evacuate the building as rioters called for his hanging.”
HuffPost: “[Vance] said he would accept a Biden win only if he considered the election to be legitimate. […] Vance’s comments illustrate a new tactic by Republican lawmakers, who are now placing conditions on accepting election results.”
