Joint Statement from DNC, DSCC, DCCC on Anniversary of ACA Signing

Joint statement from DNC Chair Jaime Harrison, DSCC Chair Gary Peters, and DCCC Chair Sean Patrick Maloney on the 12th anniversary of the signing of the Affordable Care Act:

“As we celebrate the 12th anniversary of the signing of the Affordable Care Act — legislation that secured health care coverage for over 30 million Americans, lowered costs, and is more popular today than it’s ever been — the Republican Party continues to attack and push to repeal it, which could increase Americans’ health care costs.

“Voters are learning exactly what the Republican Party will do: raise taxes on seniors and working families, end Medicare and Social Security, and try to once again take action that could increase the cost of health care and jeopardize coverage protections for Americans with preexisting conditions. Now, they’re even admitting they wouldn’t act to lower prescription drug prices. Republicans continue to show they only care about pushing the agenda of the ultra-rich and big corporations – while working families pay the price.

“The Democratic Party has a better plan — one that builds on the ACA’s legacy and includes lowering the cost of prescription drugs, focusing on mental health, fighting for reproductive rights, and ensuring veterans have access to the affordable health care they deserve.

“While Democrats fight for better care and lower costs, Republicans’ policies could leave Americans with less coverage and higher medical bills. This November, health care will once again be on the ballot, and the American people will not forget which party is fighting for them.”
