MAGA Republicans Are Having A Rough Summer

Last night’s “earthquake” victory for pro-choice Democratic House candidate Pat Ryan in New York’s 19th Congressional District is just another reminder of how MAGA Republicans are having a rough summer as they try to push an extreme agenda that the American people clearly don’t want.

The latest victory for a woman’s right to choose reaffirms what Kansas voters made clear: Anti-choice Republicans’ views are too extreme — and they will be held accountable for their extreme policies come November.

And Republicans know it. Just take a look at Ron DeSantis who, after  putting out a cringey ad spoofing Top Gun promising he would “never, ever back down from a fight,” ran away from reporters yesterday because he is afraid to give specifics on his plans to “expand” abortion restrictions.

As if things weren’t looking bad enough for MAGA Republicans, Rick Scott — who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee — is under fire for mismanaging millions while GOP Senate candidates struggle in key battlegrounds like Pennsylvania.

New York Times: “The Republicans’ Senate campaign committee has slashed its television ad reservations in three critical battleground states for the fall, a likely sign of financial troubles headed into the peak of the 2022 midterm election season.”

And while Democrats remain laser-focused on helping American families, extreme Republicans are also paying the price for opposing legislation that will lower prescription drug costs, expand health care access for combat veterans, and bring manufacturing jobs back home.

The Hill: “House Republican leadership [urged] members of its conference to vote against a bill to bolster the domestic chip manufacturing industry… a reversal from its position earlier in the day that [came] hours after Senate Democrats struck a deal on a multibillion-dollar reconciliation package.”

Make no mistake: The American people do not want the extreme agenda MAGA Republicans are offering. Pat Ryan’s victory is just the latest reminder of the GOP’s rough summer — and they have no one to blame but themselves.
