MAGA Republicans Vote No, Take Credit For The Dough (Pt. ∞)

It’s Groundhog Day for MAGA Republicans who are running their standard play of taking credit for President Biden and Democrats’ accomplishments after they did everything in their power to prevent those investments from even happening. Thankfully, President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats are getting things done for hardworking people across this country and building the economy from the middle out and bottom up — despite these Republicans’ best efforts.

After President Biden announced a historic investment in affordable, high-speed internet in all 50 states, MAGA Republicans wasted no time in taking credit for the funding coming to communities in their states — conveniently leaving out their opposition to the investments in Congress.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn, June 2023: “Great to be back in Wartburg, Tennessee this morning! I enjoyed hearing from members of the community on the progress they have made in expanding broadband and how it has positively impacted the county.”

MAGA Republicans in Congress have had no problem taking credit for grants from a program expanded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which they voted against.

Rep. Nancy Mace even staged a press conference to take credit for federal transit funding made possible through a grant program expanded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law — which she not only voted against, but also railed against in an op-ed for Fox News.

WCSC: “Charleston Congresswoman Nancy Mace called the nearly $26 million federal grant for the Shipwatch Square Transit and Workforce Center project with CARTA a win for the Lowcountry, touting it as ‘one of the largest grants for this kind of facility.’  However, it might not have been made possible had President Biden’s infrastructure bill not passed through congress.”

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp refused to attribute any credit to a Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grant at the groundbreaking of a new manufacturing plant, which — thanks to President Biden’s leadership — promises hundreds of new jobs.

Associated Press: “Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp is escalating his attack on President Joe Biden’s electric vehicle policy, speaking Tuesday at the groundbreaking for a company that received more than $100 million to refine graphite for electric batteries from the infrastructure law Biden signed.”

“The remarks are unusually partisan for a factory groundbreaking. Anovion’s $800 million investment promises 400 new jobs in rural Bainbridge, in the state’s far southwest corner.”

Washington Examiner: “Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) made it clear that he doesn’t attribute any credit to the Biden administration for electric vehicle battery suppliers’ investments in the state in remarks at the groundbreaking of the Anovion Technologies plant on Tuesday.”
