McCarthy’s Caucus Won’t Even Support NATO

In a reflection of how the anti-Ukraine wing of the Republican Party continues to grow and Kevin McCarthy has completely lost control of his caucus, nearly a third of House Republicans voted AGAINST a non-binding resolution to support NATO – even as President Biden has united NATO more than ever, and has rallied NATO to arm the Ukrainian people against Russia’s unprovoked war.

It’s simple – why did 63 House Republicans vote *against* standing with our global partners who are critical to standing against Russian aggression?

Manu Raju, CNN: “63 Rs voted NO on a non-binding resolution reaffirming ‘unequivocal support for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as an alliance founded on democratic principles’ and calling on Biden to push to establish a ‘center for democratic resilience’ at NATO.”

Maybe it’s because they know if Donald Trump was still president he would’ve sold out our allies, sided with Putin, and withdrew the United States from NATO.

Washington Post: “Former national security adviser John Bolton told The Washington Post Friday that he thinks former president Donald Trump would have pulled the United States out of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization had he been reelected in 2020. Bolton, in an interview with Post opinions editor at large Michael Duffy, said the former president came close to pulling the United States out of NATO in 2018, a claim he originally made in a memoir published in 2020. In his book, Bolton wrote that he had to convince Trump not to quit NATO in the middle of a 2018 summit.”
