Meet Trump’s Latest Endorser
May 1, 2023
Donald Trump’s latest endorsement came today from Oklahoma Representative Josh Brecheen, an anti-choice extremist who is calling for a national abortion ban. Brecheen’s endorsement is typical of the company Trump keeps given his own record of supporting a national abortion ban and appointing three Supreme Court justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Josh Brecheen supports banning abortion nationwide.
Brecheen: “Any pro-life measure that comes up that protects life on the federal level, I will be supportive of. I’ve got a history of supporting that on the state level.”
Office of Congressman Brecheen: “Congressman Brecheen is 100% pro-Life and firmly believes that life begins at conception. Congressman Brecheen will protect life at the federal level and strongly oppose any measure that advocates for abortion or uses taxpayer dollars to fund abortion.”
Brecheen’s extreme record only echoes Trump’s MAGA agenda. Just last week, Donald Trump said “we’re gonna get it done” when pressed about banning abortion after already vowing to sign a national ban when he was in office.
Trump on signing a federal abortion ban: “I think we’ll get it done on some level, it could be on different levels, but we’re gonna get it done. I know the issue very well. I think I know the issue better than most and we will get that taken care of.”
The Hill: “The Trump administration formally backed a House bill Monday that would ban abortions after 20 weeks. … It would make it a crime to perform or attempt an abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy, with the possibility of a fine, up to five years in prison or both.”
Trump also remains unashamed in bragging that “nobody has ever done more” to pave the way for extreme abortion bans in this country.
Trump: “Nobody has ever done more for ‘Right to Life’ than Donald Trump. I put three Supreme Court justices, who all voted, and they got something that they’ve been fighting for 64 years, or many, many years.”
CNN: “‘There has been no bigger advocate for the [pro-life] movement than President Trump,’ said Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung in a statement to CNN.”
The Washington Post: “Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump, said in a statement that Trump’s ‘unmatched record speaks for itself,’ pointing to his policies and appointments of antiabortion federal judges and Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade last summer, erasing a ruling that established a constitutional right to abortion and delivering a decades-long priority for conservative Christians.”
