NEW: Trump Is The Least Popular President In Modern American History, Hawking The Most Unpopular Budget On Record
July 24, 2025

In response to Donald Trump’s crashing poll numbers, DNC Communications Director Rosemary Boeglin released the following statement:
“Donald Trump is the least popular president in modern American history at this point in a term, and now he is sending the GOP home for August recess to sell to their constituents the most unpopular budget on record. Trump is finding out what happens when you betray the American people. Working families deserve better than an administration — and a party — that always puts their billionaire donors first.”
NEW: Donald Trump is the least popular president at this point in a presidential term.
Gallup: “Independents Drive Trump’s Approval to 37% Second-Term Low”
“Six months into his second term, President Donald Trump’s job approval rating has dipped to 37%, the lowest of this term and just slightly higher than his all-time worst rating of 34% at the end of his first term. Trump’s rating has fallen 10 percentage points among U.S. adults since he began his second term in January, including a 17-point decline among independents, to 29%, matching his lowest rating with that group in either of his terms. …
“During Trump’s second quarter of his second term, which spanned April 20 through July 19, he averaged 40% job approval, … It is well below the 59% average second-quarter rating for all post-World War II presidents elected from 1952 to 2020.”
With his approval rating already in the gutter, Trump is set to travel across the country in a desperate attempt to sell his wildly unpopular billionaire-first budget.
G. Elliott Morris: “The OBBBA is also historic in another way: It is likely the most unpopular budget ever, is the second most unpopular piece of key legislation since the 1990s, and the most unpopular key law, period, over the same period. …
“[T]he OBBBA is the second most unpopular piece of key legislation since 1990, and likely the most unpopular budget (I have to say ‘likely’ because we don’t have polls of every budget proposal) ever.”
REMINDER: If you’re not a billionaire, Trump and his GOP lackeys in Congress are screwing you over. Here’s how:
💸 Working Americans will lose $1,600 a year while high-earners will see their incomes boosted by $12,000.
⚡ Americans nationwide will see their energy bill increase by hundreds of dollars, and in some states, costs will increase by as much as 30%.
👨🏭 Nearly 2 million construction and 2 million clean energy manufacturing jobs are at risk. Trump and Republicans’ cuts to Medicaid and SNAP endanger another 1.2 million jobs.
🏥 17 million Americans could lose health insurance, a whopping 27% of nursing homes could be forced to close their doors, and more than 300 rural hospitals could close.
🍞 More than 22 million working families could lose some or all of their food benefits.
🧑🌾 American farmers will lose an estimated $23 billion in revenue due to SNAP cuts.
🏠 Experts say it is “the most regressive tax and budget law in at least the past 40 years—and possibly ever.”
📉 The SNAP, Medicaid, and energy subsidy cuts alone will reduce the GDP by an estimated $1.1 trillion.
🚀 The deficit will skyrocket by $3.3 trillion, stoking inflation and potentially causing an economic crisis.
🏭And combined with Trump’s reckless trade war, businesses have already lost $56 billion in the six months Trump has been in office.
