This week showed a clear contrast between the leadership of Democrats and Republicans. While the Republican Party is a dumpster fire and has fully completed its transformation into the party of Trump, President Biden showed true leadership as he remains focused on continuing to follow through on his promises, find solutions to the challenges our country faces, and deliver for the American people.
Thanks to President Biden and Democrats, millions of Americans are able to get vaccinated, the economy is getting back on track, and our country is returning to normal.
Associated Press: “The number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits fell last week to 473,000, a new pandemic low and the latest evidence that fewer employers are cutting jobs as consumers ramp up spending and more businesses reopen.”
Washington Post: “Biden hails coronavirus vaccine for 12- to 15-year-olds as ‘one more giant step’ in fight against the pandemic”
CNBC: “Fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a face mask or stay six feet away from others in most settings, whether outdoors or indoors, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in updated public health guidance released Thursday.”
President Biden continues to deliver on his promise to reduce costs and expand access to health care.
Associated Press: “Biden: 1M sign up for health care during special enrollment”
NBC News: “Biden’s plan allows for consumers to buy into the individual marketplace and choose their health care provider of choice. In an effort to expand access even on that front, the plan will only allow consumers to spend 8.5 percent of their income on insurance.”
CNN: “Biden administration says it will enforce federal transgender health care protections, undoing controversial Trump-era reversal”
President Biden is fulfilling his promise to reach across the aisle to pass critical legislation for the American people.
NPR: “On Wednesday, Biden — who has pitched a roughly $2 trillion infrastructure plan, in addition to another massive spending proposal on families and education — hosted the four top Senate and House leaders in the Oval Office in an effort to jumpstart discussions on steering an infrastructure measure through Congress… On Thursday, Biden will meet with several Senate Republicans, including West Virginia’s Shelley Moore Capito, who’s leading GOP negotiations on infrastructure.”
NBC News: “Biden is trying to build support for an infrastructure bill to fund everything from roads and bridges to electric vehicles and elder care, paid for by rising corporate taxes…The White House has said that the president is open to compromise on nearly all aspects of the proposal and that his only red lines are inaction, or raising taxes on those making less than $400,000 a year.”
President Biden continues to work toward solutions to the challenges at the border and repair the damage Trump caused to our immigration system.
NBC News: “President Joe Biden plans to welcome six recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program to the Oval Office on Friday as his administration signals his immigration reform plan remains a legislative priority.”
President Biden and the administration brought a whole-of-government approach to take on the Colonial Pipeline ransomware attack.
Axios: “The White House quickly sensed security and political peril…Separately, the White House yesterday issued a wide-ranging executive order to bolster cyber defenses. It was in the works long before the Colonial hack, but officials cited the pipeline in touting the need for it.”
