Personal Income Spikes & Jobless Rates Fall Across the Country — No Thanks to Republicans

Despite congressional Republicans’ best efforts to block relief from reaching the American people, President Biden’s economic plan is working. According to new data released this week, jobless rates have decreased in nearly every state since January. And as HuffPost reported earlier this week, the American Rescue Plan raised personal incomes at an annual rate of nearly 60% during the first three months of the year, with states whose Republican senators voted against the plan seeing some of the highest growth. Thanks to President Biden and Democrats, millions of Americans are getting back to work, the coronavirus is getting under control, and the economy is starting to boom. It’s no wonder Republicans keep touting the American Rescue Plan that they all voted against.

Here’s a look at what they’re saying about President Biden’s economic boom in the states:

In Georgia:

Democratic Party of Georgia: ICYMI: Personal Income in Georgia Spikes 64% Thanks to Democrats’ COVID-19 Relief

“Make no mistake – the economic rebound we are seeing today is because of the American Rescue Plan, which every Georgia Democrat supported and every Georgia Republican opposed,” said Rebecca Galanti, spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “Thanks to the Biden-Harris administration and Democrats in Congress, Georgians are getting back to work, COVID-19 is getting under control, and businesses are once again thriving. President Biden’s economic plan is working.”

In Arizona:

Arizona Democratic Party: Release: A Tale of Two Summers: Arizona Adds More Jobs, Personal Income Rises as Biden’s Recovery Continues to Lift Working Families

“President Biden’s historic investment in working families and local businesses under the American Rescue Plan continues to pay dividends across Arizona,” said ADP Spokesperson Hannah Goss. “Democrats’ multi-pronged approach to rebuilding our economy from the ground up and middle out is working, even despite Republicans’ attempts to hobble Biden’s recovery efforts. The Republican members of Arizona’s congressional delegation may try to hide the fact they voted against the incredibly popular rescue plan, but Arizona voters will remember their dereliction of duty at the ballot box next November.”

In North Carolina:

North Carolina Democratic Party: May State Jobs Report: North Carolina Has One of the Lowest Unemployment Rates In the Country

“North Carolina’s economic growth is up, unemployment is down, and our state’s economy is bouncing back from the pandemic thanks to President Biden’s leadership after only six months in office. This is a direct result of the President’s American Rescue Plan, which Senators Richard Burr, Thom Tillis and the rest of the Republican delegation from North Carolina voted against. One thing is for certain: President Joe Biden, Governor Roy Cooper and Democrats are helping our state get back on track,” said NCDP Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty.

In Wisconsin:

Democratic Party of Wisconsin: May Job Numbers Show Success of Biden’s American Rescue Plan

“The numbers don’t lie: The economic recovery led by President Joe Biden and Gov. Tony Evers continues to spur new job growth as Wisconsinites get vaccinated and get back to work. Simply put, Democrats are delivering for Wisconsin.

“Wisconsinites deserve leaders that prioritize the needs of working people over wealthy donors and corporate greed—and while GOP lawmakers like Sen. Ron Johnson continue voting against the interests of Wisconsin families, Democrats are working to put more money in people’s pockets, support small businesses, and get kids back in schools.”

In Pennsylvania:

Pennsylvania Democratic Party: Pennsylvania Democratic Party Statement on May State Unemployment Numbers

“With businesses reopening, COVID cases dwindling, and vaccination rates rising, it is clear that the Democrats and President Biden are delivering for Pennsylvania families. As we continue to build back better, congressional PA Republicans must join their Democratic colleagues to deliver additional relief to their constituents by passing the American Jobs Plan and the American Families Plan.”
