PHOTOS: DNC, Gov. Wolf Continue Ice Cream Truck Tour in Philadelphia to Celebrate America Coming Back This July 4th

Today, the Democratic National Committee’s Ice Cream Truck Tour made a stop in Philadelphia ahead of the Fourth of July holiday with Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf and local elected officials to celebrate Pennsylvanians coming back together after a year of hardship and separation.

Thanks to the leadership of President Biden, Governor Wolf, and Democrats across Pennsylvania, more than 75% of adults in the commonwealth have received at least one dose of the vaccine, COVID-19 cases and deaths are down, and families are reuniting to celebrate together this summer.

“I am so proud of the work we have done in Pennsylvania to protect as many lives as possible. As a result, vaccination rates continue to increase, COVID cases are plummeting, and our economy is recovering. President Biden and the Democrats in Congress also share these priorities, and the American Rescue Plan is providing much-needed relief to Pennsylvania and across the country,” said Governor Tom Wolf. “As we prepare to commemorate the founding of this great nation, let us be grateful for our health and grateful that President Biden and Democrats in Congress are taking the necessary steps to ensure that America is coming back together.”

“To have someone in the White House who has true leadership skills and
empathy for the citizens of this country has meant the world to my district,” said Congressman Dwight Evans. “With President Biden guiding our country at one of its darkest moments, he put forth one of the most ambitious pieces of legislation to rescue this country from a pandemic and severe economic struggles. With President Biden, myself and other Democrats in control of Congress, we passed legislation that put money in people’s pockets, shots in their arms and expanded the poverty-busting Child Tax Credit program that will help more than 100,000 children in my district alone. Elections have consequences and Democrats stepped up for the American people.”

“2020 was a year of death and despair,” said Congressman Brendan Boyle. “But thanks to President Biden and the Democrats’ American Rescue Plan, America is on the way back. This Fourth of July, we can finally celebrate our freedom from COVID.”

“Thank you Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for bringing us back, for getting those shots in hands, money in people’s pockets, and today, Fourth of July weekend, getting ice cream on the streets,” said State Senator Vincent Hughes. “We’re on our way back. Democrats did it.”

“In October, I said ‘we need a Philly special’, and we Democrats delivered it,” said State Representative Joanna McClinton. “And as a result we are able to celebrate the historic progress that we made in just 5 months. People getting back to work, getting vaccines in arms, returning to normal lives, but more importantly having opportunities in the land of the free, because of the brave.”

“It was great to be here in the birthplace of America to celebrate this 4th of July — where thanks to President Biden, our country is back,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party Vice Chair Sharif Street. “Competent leadership is leading the way with shots in arms, relief checks in bank accounts, and more on the way for the working families of our community. The good times are here again in Philadelphia, and it’s all thanks to the work of Democrats from the White House to the governor to our colleagues in Congress and Harrisburg.”
