Throughout the Month of August, Bus will Travel Across the Country to Highlight How Democrats are Delivering for Working Families

Today, the Democratic National Committee’s “Build Back Better” bus tour made a stop in Houston, Texas with Mayor Sylvester Turner, State Senator Carol Alvarado and Texas Democratic Party Vice Chair Dr. Carla Brailey. During the stop, the speakers highlighted how President Biden and Democrats are delivering for the American people with the creation of more than four million jobs, tax cuts for middle-class families, and lower health care costs.

“President Biden’s ‘Build Back Better’ agenda is making the economy better for Houston families,” said Mayor Sylvester Turner. “The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 allows the city of Houston to continue providing rental assistance by expanding the reach of the existing Houston-Harris County Emergency Rental Assistance Program. The ERAP has provided more money to help renters than any other program in the United States. We are grateful to the Biden-Harris Administration for making these funds available to Houston.”

“After only 6 months in office, the economy has added more than 4 million jobs under the leadership of President Biden and the Democrats, more jobs than have ever been created in the first six months of any presidency in modern history,” said State Senator Carol Alvarado. “As we recover from the pandemic, Democrats are ensuring that we build back better by increasing access to health care, providing tax cuts for middle class families and cultivating historic job growth. I am proud to join President Biden in the trenches as we fight our way out of Trump’s recession and get America back on track.”
