President Biden and Democrats Deliver Bonuses for Florida First Responders
March 30, 2022
Ron DeSantis is, once again, taking credit for funds delivered by the American Rescue Plan, hoping Floridians forget that he referred to it as “Washington at its worst.” DNC spokesperson Adonna Biel released the following statement:
“Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, Joe Biden and Democrats delivered bonuses for Florida’s police and first responders. Ron DeSantis has been clear he would’ve opposed the federal relief bill. He can thank President Biden anytime.”
Once again, Governor Ron DeSantis is hypocritically trying to take credit for funding from the American Rescue Plan, which he vocally opposed:
- Ron DeSantis once called the American Rescue Plan: “Washington at its worst.”
- The Florida Legislature again allocated millions in federal coronavirus relief money for a second round of “First Responder Recognition Payments” of up to $1,000.
- The Florida Legislature previously agreed to DeSantis’s request to allocate $400 million of federal coronavirus relief money toward one-time bonuses for police officers, firefighters, paramedics, teachers, and principals.
