PROMISES MADE, PROMISES BROKEN: Under Trump, Workers See Biggest Drop in Income in Years

In response to Donald Trump shrinking Americans’ income, DNC Deputy Communications Director Abhi Rahman released the following statement:

“Donald Trump’s presidency has been nothing but one broken promise after another. Prices are up, incomes are down, and the country is on the verge of a recession, yet the only people Trump is interested in helping are his billionaire donors. Trump’s economic policies are a disaster — Americans everywhere are paying the price.”

PROMISE MADE: Donald Trump campaigned on higher wages for working families …

Donald Trump: “We’re putting America first. This new American industrialism will … massively raise wages for American workers.”

Trump: “Unleashing American energy will … produce higher wages for the American worker.”

PROMISE BROKEN: … Only to shrink income by the most in nearly 4 years.

Mike Zaccardi: “Personal Income down 0.4% in May, weakest since Sept 2021”

U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis: “Personal income decreased $109.6 billion (0.4 percent at a monthly rate) in May, according to estimates released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. Disposable personal income (DPI)—personal income less personal current taxes—decreased $125.0 billion (0.6 percent)”
