REMINDER: Trump’s MAGA Minion Lauren Boebert Opposes Good-Paying, Clean Energy Jobs for Her District

DNC National Press Secretary Sarafina Chitika released the following statement:

“President Biden’s historic Inflation Reduction Act is putting hundreds of thousands of Americans to work and reinvigorating domestic manufacturing, including in Lauren Boebert’s district in Colorado – but she’d rather do Donald Trump’s bidding than support workers back home. MAGA Minion Lauren Boebert voted no on the Inflation Reduction Act, and even now — when President Biden’s legislation is already delivering tens of thousands of jobs and is expected to create approximately 850 jobs in her district — her repeated calls to repeal it continue. Not only do Donald Trump and Lauren Boebert deny the reality of climate change, they want to deny workers in Colorado and across the country their paycheck.”

With no help from Boebert, President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act is leading a manufacturing boom across America – including creating 850 new jobs at a plant in her own district.

Politico: “CS Wind says the Pueblo facility is the world’s largest manufacturing plant for wind turbine towers. The company, which is based in South Korea, has credited the IRA with helping spur the growth that allowed it to expand its Pueblo facility. In April, the company broke ground on an expansion that is due to open next year and is expected to create 850 new jobs in Colorado by 2026. CS Wind will be eligible for clean-energy tax credits under the IRA.”

KOAA: “Pueblo plant expansion driven by Inflation Reduction Act”

“A White House fact sheet released on the anniversary of the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act cites estimates from the US Department of Energy that American wind production will triple by 2030 as a result of the tax credits and other renewable energy incentives contained in the law. Chairman Gim explained the decision to expand the Pueblo facility came as a result of that increase in demand.”

White House Fact Sheet: “The analysis shows that 99% of clean energy investments in Colorado since the Inflation Reduction Act passed are in counties with below-average weekly wages, 99% are in counties with below-median household income, 99% are in counties with below-average college graduation rates, and 68% are in counties with higher-than-average child poverty rates.”

Boebert voted against bringing clean, good-paying manufacturing jobs to her district and has attacked and lied about President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act at every opportunity.

Rep. Boebert: “What the heck are we doing here? Why are we passing this so-called Inflation Reduction Act if [inflation rates] are at zero percent? Well, in fact, it’s the inflation enhancement act and it does the exact opposite of what Americans need right now. ”

Rep. Boebert: “Last year, the Democrats disgracefully would title a bill one way and then load it with a bunch of garbage that had nothing to do with the title, like the shameful infrastructure bill, $1.2 trillion where less than 10% went toward actual infrastructure, or what about the Inflation Reduction Act? AKA the Green New Deal. We put an end to all of that, and guess what? Members of Congress can actually go to the House floor and amend bills. What a concept!”

If that wasn’t enough, Boebert has repeatedly called to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act, and did so after Trump urged members of Congress to sink the job-creation legislation.

@laurenboebert: “The so-called ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ needs to be repealed when Republicans take back the House.”

Rep. Boebert: “It’s not just about federal spending, it’s about defunding woke ideology that is corrupting our government. And we shouldn’t be giving a single dollar to woke and weaponized federal agencies that are targeting conservatives. Now, our Limit Save Grow Act, as you’ve seen, it cuts federal spending by $4.8 trillion over a 10-year period, and it blocks the $500 billion student loan bailout, rescinds nearly $60 billion in unspent Covid funds, repeals the Green New Deal tax credits found in the Inflation Reduction Act, defunds Biden’s 87,000 IRS agents, and then it also strengthens work requirements for federal government programs.

Press Release, Office of Rep. Lauren Boebert: “Twenty-Six of Congresswoman Boebert’s Legislative Priorities Pass the House with Bipartisan Support! … Congresswoman Boebert’s appropriations requests found in the base bill include: … 12. The bill rescinds $1.35 billion from the Inflation Reduction Act (P.L. 117-169) for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental and Climate Justice Block Grants. 13. Bill language prohibiting funds to carry out the program for Federal employees at the Department of the Interior regarding ecogrief. 14. No funding is provided for Nancy Pelosi’s Presidio Trust and the bill rescinds $200 million in Inflation Reduction Act funding for the Presidio earmark.”

Insider: “Former President Donald Trump on Friday slammed the Democratic-led climate, health, and tax bill, arguing that Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky was ‘taken for a ride’ by Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia.”

Trump: “Democrats in Congress should strongly VOTE AGAINST THE BIGGEST GREEN NEW FAKE DEAL BILL IN HISTORY, which is about to be rammed down the throats of Americans.”

Trump: “Call your Democrat Congressmen & women – tell them NOT to vote for this killer. Republicans are 100% against!”

And Boebert called for domestic wind turbine manufacturing, but voted against President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, which helped bolster the industry at home and in her district.

@RepBoebert, April 2021: “The reason the blades for wind turbines are built in Beijing is because people like YOU have been selling us out to China for years, Joe. Stop the act.”

Fox 21, April 2023: “Construction is underway for an expansion to the world’s largest manufacturing plant for wind turbine towers, a project designed to double production and lead to the hiring of at least 850 new employees in Pueblo. … This expansion of the facility was made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA), which includes tax incentives for clean energy projects, said CS Wind. The expansion addresses two goals outlined in the legislation: build American clean energy supply chains and create clean energy jobs.”
