Rep. Demings, BFP’s Bedingfield Discuss How Trump’s COVID-19 Response Caused a Crisis for Families
August 24, 2020
During a video press briefing today, Rep. Val Demings (D-FL), and Biden for President Deputy Campaign Manager and Communications Director Kate Bedingfield discussed the start of the Republican National Convention and how Trump’s mismanagement of the coronavirus and “Chaos Presidency” has caused a crisis for families.
Representative Val Demings:
“The current occupant of the White House has abandoned our families, our children, our seniors. Under this president’s failed leadership, our families are in crisis and President Trump is incapable of doing anything about it. … America needs and deserves a steady hand. We can do this. With competent, capable and compassionate leadership, we can build back better. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have a plan to protect our families, get the virus under control, reopen our schools and workplaces safely, and get our economy back on track. When Joe Biden and Kamala Harris win, America’s families win.”
Biden for President Deputy Campaign Manager and Communications Director Kate Bedingfield:
“So, today is the first day of the Republican National Convention and while nearly half of the speakers you will hear from are members of the Trump family, you aren’t going to hear much about the plight of American families.”
“Joe Biden has taken care of aging parents, and he’s been a single parent. He knows how hard it is to raise a family and to care for a sick family member, and he knows how hard it is for millions of Americans who are just trying to make ends meet, especially in the middle of a pandemic and economic crisis.”
Today’s press briefing is part of the DNC War Room’s counter programming during the Republican National Convention. Each day, the DNC will focus on a different crisis Trump has created or made worse with his “Chaos Presidency.” Efforts include paid television and digital advertising, holding Trump and speakers accountable for their lies and misinformation, events in battleground states, and more.
